English, Pizza and Fun on School Holidays!
Well, it seems July just flew by! Here’s some of what we have been up to the last month. As always we are teaching English to the girls in our Foster care, we have special English games and conversation evenings every Tuesday and Thursday in addition to daily conversations about many different things. We have also started showing the girls movies in English on Friday or Saturday nights to help them practice listening and understanding skills. All the girls are in school or an internship for school right now, as it is not school break in Thailand. We are so impressed at how well the girls are doing, May who’s had less time with us is improving rapidly thanks to some of our repetitive games and Saturday English Club. The English Club we are hosting at Abundant Grace Church Chiang Rai every Saturday afternoon is going well. We grew in a few short weeks to a maximum number of students from the local community, students as young as 5 and as old as 65 are having fun learning English. We helped a friend do an English Camp at a Hill Tribe School in Mae Chan in late July as well. There were two Buddhist Holidays in July which constituted a 4 day long weekend in Thailand. Puiy went to her home village for a visit, and it was family fun time with May and Thip baking cookies and visiting Singha Park. They said they wanted to try Ziplining…so well, OK! We went to Singha Park in Chiang Rai not far from home and visited the Tea Plantation and well, our two girls did it, they also went Ziplining. It only cost about $12 Cad to go for a quick ride and they so loved it and want to go again. Last Saturday was Pizza night, and in true Asian style, they wanted Ham, Pineapple and Corn Pizza. So that’s what they got…and it was devoured quite quickly too. They get very excited about Pizza and Spaghetti nights and are learning to make both. Now Oatmeal cookies have become a favorite as well. So from our family to you, Thank you to all of you who support our mission and for helping us make life better for girls who would otherwise not be going to school, enjoying Pizza and movie nights, family time and who certainly wouldn’t have tried ziplining. God Bless you all!
